Final thoughts on the portal & who's seen Gi joe Resolute?
Posted by Dekathos Jun. 25, 2009 @ 2:12 PM EDTOk my "last" post turned to shit fast so I dumped it and a few other things.
I wont post anymore until I can actually talk about something I'm doing flash related, I think.
It could be long time before I make anymore flash for lots of reasons I've mentioned before and some other reasons I'd rather not talk about.
So anyway the ART PORTAL. That caught me off guard. I probably never would've made a deviant account if it was around back then.
I'm not sure what to think yet about the idea of ranking drawings and all that. I know scores are a part of newgrounds so I guess there's no getting around it. I am assuming art work will get a showcase eventually similar to the audios.
I haven't lurked through it too much yet and I really want to post some drawings but I decided that I should only put out new stuff.
I have made some recent drawings. They are on Deviant now so I'm not sure I should bother. I will put up the first new drawing I come up with though. Maybe I just need to get used to it! So I eventually intend to be productive in the art portal.
OH and this may be kind of old news but has any one seen Gi Joe Resolute? A short animation that aired on cartoon network in "micro" parts like the good clone wars cartoon. I think Youtube is deleting them by the way.
I think may have killed what looks like an otherwise promising game. But Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin are in it and it's always great to hear them reprising these roles and if the game is bad it still may be worth it. Even though Hamill sounds kind of raspy and bored.
Yah. Dat's right. Ain't nutin stop a tief when he be online. Dat wut you get for making bad movies! Take dat Wolverine!

Resources depleted. Gambit can no longer make deh flash
Posted by Dekathos Mar. 13, 2009 @ 3:03 PM EDTWell the story is all in my comments here sort of :
http://dekathos.deviantart.com/art/Win dows-Vista-Dont-Like-Gambit-115722609
In a nut shell, computer lag when I use flash drives me insane and I just don't have the patience for it anymore.
Also I ran a performance test of my computer at this site :
http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/def ault.asp
I'm at the bottom 23 percent! I keep forgetting when they say upgrade to new windows OS they really mean buy a new computer! It's not that it's a terrible computer and it's not a memory thing. Maybe more of a ram one. I guess I have to admit that it's old. It lags when I watch video and flash too. I'm afraid any other OS change would kill it.
I've heard good things so far about windows 7 but well, you know, when it comes out people will probably buy it because they're desperate for an alternative to Vista. Damn. Bill Gates is evil.
I don't know. I don't see me doing flash for at least a year if ever with this. Well maybe things will look better later. I've been told Flash cs4 doesn't even work particularly well on fast machines.
Well I could always downgrade everything. umm... yeah ... I guess there will be no more news from me.
Also proof no one like Gambit right here:
I want to ramble on about a few unrelated things and that's the best title I could come up with.
I noticed I have the option to delete all my new movies from last year except for the earliest two because of views under 3,000. So here's my analysis. I have 9 movies under 3,000. Most of them are from my clock account.
I also sometimes think that if I wasn't high in the "rankings" the movies on this account would get less views. That's my way of comparing my retired clock account to this one. Of course being in a collection probably helps more.
So my clock account is pretty much like a ghost town and it's extremely rare when I receive a review for any of those except for one in a collection. I also have one in a clock day collection but there's so many there already it's not really viewed very often.
When my old stuff is reviewed I don't feel as interested as I would be for newer stuff that doesn't get as much sunshine. I am less thrilled when the reviews aren't really worth reading or obviously written by a 12 year old who can't spell anything more then five letters long, but that's another story.
So out of curiosity, on average how many movies do you have that are below 3,000 views and such?
And now for something completely different.
I'm sure nobody cares but I'd like to jot down some personal stuff that tick me off to let off some steam. Something I don't like doing and likely wont do again. You can probably stop reading as it's about diabetes. I would post this on my clock account or something. It would make more sense there. But just like my movies, I don't get much views and have never received an award with it so I can't use it to front page post.
For those few of you who have diabetes and even less of you who know that I have it, here's my story. I've had it for about 13 years and used an insulinpump to take care of it for almost as long. It's a pretty innovative device and I really enjoy the technology and pretty much anything that makes management more convenient. And I've upgraded this machine 4 times already.
So it keeps changing and making things easier. Not a whole lot but it's something. Well recently there has been some new technology out that seems way more cutting edge then the last few upgrades. A device called the Continuos Glucose monitor.
It basically would be able to read my blood sugars every five minutes and interact with my insulin pump to negate a lot of my problems with management. I was thrilled when I was told I would receive this once I've been able to do a lot of work with my doctor and insurance.
Yet of course just today I am told I am not covered. So basically I'll receive an upgraded pump but not the device that makes it worthwhile to begin with. Sort of the ultimate tease. I guess it is fairly new and not many (including insurance companies) are even aware of it or are concerned with its benefits. Perhaps in the future. O well, Que Sera, Sera.
Here's an old picture of my insulin pump in a robe and fez. Even if he is out of date he's still a lady killer. Especially when he stops giving them insulin!

Check my last news post for details. In short, If I make another flash, I do not want to receive negative comments about audio again but I can't help you unless you help me. N'est-ce pas? Good.
So if you can please give me some advice. Especially if you can tell me how to assure that the volume of my audio remains the same volume/ quality through out an entire flash that would be nice.
Even better would be if you could give me your specific thoughts here on the audio of some of my more recent submissions, so I may have a better understanding of the problem. Otherwise I might think you're picky and then maybe start to ignore the whole thing all together. I probably should. So essentially no help means you like it as is. Or you only like to give feedback when it's snarky and antagonistic...
And one more thing
How come nobody like Gambit? Eh?

Hello. I haven't posted here in a while and was thinking of asking for advice a little later. But I figure I'll just post again later if no one can help at the time. I'll try to make this short.
Since I started flash I have been using cheap microphones. My current is a Logitech. Lately my movies get complaints about audio quality. In the last maybe 2 years I think all my movies with voice work have reviews complaining about audio. I have gotten some help in this matter earlier last year involving raising the quality of the audio in the flash settings. I think that works some what although it raises the size tremendously.
Anyway, even though I do this now I still get complaints in reviews about sound. It's hard to get helpful thoughts on that as it's never terribly specific. Like I sometimes think some sound clips sound good some don't but I'm not sure what other people are hearing. Sometimes I think they are just picky. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I use Cool edit pro 2.1 to record if that matters.
Also I am seriously thinking of getting an expensive microphone (but not too expensive). Why? Becuase If I decide to make a few more movies I really just want to do everything right.
I am looking seriously at the Audio Technica*AT2020 USB*AT-2020 . Anyone have any suggestions?

Posted by Dekathos Dec. 14, 2008 @ 12:53 AM EST9 if you count one blammed movie. What do I win?
No, no, no. It's what you win! More garbage next year. Muhuhahauha. I'm going to do one last 3 or four episode "series". Well, maybe not next year. Who knows? I may not be able to finish it by then, unless I do it on the cheap but that's not what I had in mind. It is something I wanted to do from the very beginning believe it or not. Yeah that's right before 2001. So I've been a tad bit side tracked for a "while." I think I've learned more then enough at this point to get this done.
Anyway, I started submitting this year with a farewell flash to the clock crew called the Burning even though I left way earlier. I made it as an homage to my favorite clock movies and a tribute to some of the establishments finer points. While I put it out thinking it was a bit sluggish and intensely aware of all its flaws like I always do, unfortunately, i was still a little bummed out by the results. So I watched it again and I found it's actually a lot more fun then I remembered. I can't say that about everything I do. Al though, I don't think it was my favorite this year.
Anyway, aren't scores on Newgrounds complete bull or what? My newest movie has now creeped up from 3.58 to being the highest scoring one I've done this year! Well whoever is voting on it. Good job, soldier and thanks for the support.
And before I go, I would like to thank my 3 favorite people for motivating me.
Me, Myself and I. Give yourselves a pat on the back.

I am seriously considering making this. I have a hard time letting things be and I had a lot of ideas I never got a chance to use in the other two.
On the other hand there is something big and serious that I want to get back to but it might take a lot more time and effort and I may never get a chance to submit as often as I have these past few months, putting it together.
I actually did do some stuff for another Loose Change a while ago. Maybe if I can write a good script that won't be too long it will be ok. There is precious little motivating me though and there's no telling what it will turn out like. It's a tough decision on my part to go back to something. I'm afraid the idea might turn out to be stale.
Also I don't think the other 2 were enjoyed much to begin with. haha. But that's never seemed to stop me before! O well at least I amuse myself.
